News and Events


· Applications for high school seniors graduating in May 2025 will be available on-line beginning December 1, 2024 and will close on February 15, 2025. Recipients are notified in May.

· SAT/ACT scores are required. Applicants must achieve a minimum total score of 1080 on the SAT using the Evidence-Based Reading/Writing and Math scores only, or composite of 22 on the ACT.

· Take your SAT or ACT on a Fall testing date; January or February dates are too late to meet our deadline.


 
                         

                                                                  

 

 

Welcome to the Baumberger Endowment!

The Baumberger Endowment was established in the Last Will and

Testament of Charles Baumberger, Jr. to provide scholarship funds

for education in the basic arts and sciences to Texas’ youth.  The

Endowment is a private, independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization

guided by specific requirements stated in Mr. Baumberger's Will and

by policies set by the Trustees of the Endowment.  Over 3,700

scholarships totaling over $55 million have been awarded since 1979. 

 


Who Should Apply?

Graduating seniors of an accredited (TEA) high school within Bexar County, Texas, who cannot attend college without financial assistance (see Application Information for additional requirements).

 

When to Apply

The online application process will be open to 2025 graduating seniors on December 1, 2024 and will be closed on February 15, 2025.  Click Here to apply.  Scholarship recipients are notified in May.

 

 

About Charles Baumberger, Jr. (1889 - 1968)

Mr. Baumberger was a lifetime resident of San Antonio and a former President of the Board of San Antonio Portland Cement Company. His father was one of the founders of San Antonio Portland Cement Company and one of the organizers of Bexar County National Bank.  Charles Baumberger, Jr. and his wife, Gene, had no children. After providing for his wife during her lifetime, Mr. Baumberger stipulated in his Will that the income from his fortune be devoted to the education in the basic arts and sciences of Texas’ youth.
